How To Fill a Healthy Easter Basket: 7 Egg-cellent Alternatives to Candy

April 12, 2017 by Kimberly Duffey

Easter is this coming Sunday, and if your kids are anything like ours, you’ve already been reminded that it’s just around the corner. From Easter egg hunts at school to pastel colors everywhere, there are tons of activities and fun for the kids during this holiday. There are also plenty of opportunities to indulge in too much sugar, especially when it comes to Easter baskets.

Sugar is tooth decay’s best friend, and unfortunately, eating too much of it can be very detrimental to your kids’ teeth. Since happy kids are healthy kids, we’ve put together a few alternatives that are just as fun – sugar high, crashing, and dental health risk not included!

1.  Bunny Cupcake Lip Gloss

2.  Easter Egg Hunt Legos

3.  Emoji Slap Bracelets

4.  Fruit Leather or Snacks

(Not completely sugar-free, but much better than candy!)

5.  Sidewalk Chalk

6.  Sunglasses

And because we’re not completely insane,

7.  Dark Chocolate Covered Fruit, because it’s Easter after all, and we’re all for chocolate in moderation.

What’s going in your kid’s Easter basket this year?

My name is Dr. Kimberly.

I’ve treated many dental patients over the years—students, special needs adults, even soldiers. In my years of practicing general dentistry, I was always drawn to children and teenagers. That’s why I decided to open a Summerville practice especially for them. Palmetto Kids Dentistry is designed to be a fun, pleasant experience for both you and your children.

As a mom, I know first-hand how challenging it can be to get toddlers comfortable with toothbrushes and kids ok with dental exams. I’m here to help so that together we can ensure your child will enjoy a lifetime of healthy teeth and beautiful smiles.

I’m looking forward to meeting your family!
